In my review of Street Fighter 6, I said that the latest entry to the series is the equivalent to Monster Hunter World for the Monster Hunter franchise. That is, it has gotten the attention of an entirely new segment of players who previously found fighting games too daunting to try. With its modern control scheme and single-player World Tour campaign, Street Fighter 6 is appealing to a whole new group and is finding success in doing so. Now, everyone gets to look forward to Capcom’s continued support, starting with the game’s first new character, Rashid.

Rashid is being added as a part of the game’s Year 1 Character Pass. Owners who purchased Street Fighter 6’s Deluxe Edition or Ultimate Edition will also get access starting July 24. The full lineup for Year 1 was announced before the game was released: Rashid (Summer 2023), A.K.I. (Autumn 2023), Akuma (Spring 2024), and ED (Winter 2024). When Rashid joins the roster, there will be content across all three game modes, which means players can meet him in the World Tour mode and apply his moves to their custom avatar. World Tour will also give players the opportunity to learn more about the character and his background.

The character features parkour and lightning quick movements and here’s a breakdown of his moves:

  • Arabian Cyclone: A new special move that performs a spinning kick and conjures up a whirlwind; can be used as a standalone blow, or transitioned into Rolling Assault or Wing Stroke
  • Arabian Skyhigh: A new double jump move that keeps opponents guessing on where Rashid will land from the air
  • Super Rashid Kick: Level 1 Super Art that unloads a devastating kick while soaring forward and up through the air
  • Ysaar: Previously Rashid’s V-Trigger move in Street Fighter V, this Level 2 Super Art summons a slow-moving whirlwind projectile that can be used to pressure opponents
  • Altair: Rashid’s Level 3 Super Art calls forth a tempest that lifts opponents before he rains down on them with a monsoon of powerful blows

This month’s fighting pass, titled “Rashid Arrives!” and available now through July 23, features Rashid-related avatar gear, emotes, music, stickers, and more.
