Atlus has announced that Persona 3 Reload has crossed three million units sold worldwide, a little over two years after the remake first launched. To mark the milestone, the studio is running the game’s biggest discount to date, 65 percent off, during the Steam Summer Sale.
In my review, I called Persona 3 Reload an excellent example of how to remake a beloved game, faithful to the original while modernizing most of its dated mechanics, with the emphasis on most. Persona 3 has always been my favorite of the modern Persona games, with the strongest cast and most memorable ending of the bunch, even if Tartarus still drags across a 75 to 80 hour runtime. I recommended it to RPG fans without hesitation, especially newcomers who came into the series through Persona 5.
The timing makes sense, too, because Atlus is clearly in full remake mode. Persona 4 Revival recently locked in a release date of February 18, 2027 for PlayStation 5, XBOX Series X|S, and PC, with a broadcast detailing its reworked battle system and a separate English voice cast reveal. As someone who started the series on the original Persona 3, I said when that broadcast aired that I’m just glad Persona 5’s success keeps letting Atlus revisit these games. I can’t wait to hang out with Teddie all over again.
