Nintendo has previewed plans for the upcoming E3 event, at which it will once again not hold a press conference. In lieu of a press conference, we can expect a Nintendo Direct-like presentation called Nintendo Digital Event that will be live streaming for the world to watch on Tuesday, June 10 at 12:00 PM ET. The company did however reveal some exciting news for Super Smash Bros. fans, as Nintendo will be hosting a Super Smash Bros. Wii U tournament at the Nokia Theater during E3. The tournament will feature 16 “highly skilled Super Smash Bros. players” and will serve as an exciting preview for the upcoming game.
In conjunction with the Super Smash Bros. Wii U tournament, the company has also teamed up with Best Buy again so that gamers across the nation will have a chance to play Super Smash Bros. at their local stores in an event called Super Smash Bros. Smash Fest. In addition, Nintendo will be giving its fans an inside look with Nintendo Treehouse: Live @ E3, which will be a series of daily streams from the company’s E3 show floor booth. Those livestreams will be hosted by developers from the company’s Product Development department and will include live game demos.
“We demonstrated last year that we are never afraid to reinvent a proven tactic or to break completely new ground if we believe it will provide the best experience for our fans, followers and partners,” said Fils-Aime. “So, whether you’re attending E3 in person or joining online, there’s an amazing lineup of games, experiences and events coming your way.”
