Seemingly from nowhere, Square Enix has launched a website announcing a new Dissidia Final Fantasy game heading to Android and iOS. Unfortunately, we’ll need to wait until 3:00 AM Pacific (6:00 AM Eastern) on October 14, 2025, to learn more. Currently, the website has several teaser images depicting modern Japan, but what’s more important is that they’re all outdoors. While the game is going to be a “Team Boss Battle Arena,” these images give me the impression that it’ll be something akin to Pokémon Go or Monster Hunter Now. If you look closely at each of the images, there are pop-ups you can click that offer additional small teasers.

Some of the teasers we identified include Rinoa, Sephiroth on top of Tokyo Tower, a flyer for Tokyo Theater Festival, and Prompto holding a camera. There is also a series of silhouettes of various Final Fantasy characters. The obvious ones we could identify are Irvine, Auron, Lightning, Rinoa, Cloud, Zidane, and Prompto. We’re unsure who the second and sixth silhouettes are, but if we had to guess, the second is Aerith and the sixth is likely Tifa. The seventh looks to be a younger Y’shtola from Final Fantasy XIV.

I’m particularly excited about this announcement because Dissidia Final Fantasy Opera Omnia was one of my favorite mobile games. There wasn’t a single day that went by when I didn’t log in, from its launch to its shutdown in February 2024. Thankfully, the wait isn’t too long to hear more, and hopefully it’ll be something good. A Teamfight Tactics-type game would work really well on mobile, although I don’t think Square Enix is that ambitious.

A New Dissidia Final Fantasy
