During tonight’s one-year anniversary livestream for Metaphor: ReFantazio, Atlus revealed the Metaphor: ReFantazio Guidebook Edition. It’s a digital bundle launching in 2026 that includes the base game, the Essential Digital Strategy Guide (English), a digital artbook, a digital soundtrack, and two costume sets: Shujin Academy and Jouin High uniforms. The Essential Digital Strategy Guide is a 55-page guidebook curated and re-edited from the full game guide published by Future Press.
Along with an introduction to the story and mechanics of Metaphor: ReFantazio, the guide includes a walkthrough of the first arc and an optimized schedule to help players make the most of their time with the game. Those who already own the Digital Deluxe Edition will get the Essential Digital Strategy Guide for free. No official release date was announced for the Guidebook Edition, but it’ll launch sometime next year.
The news is probably a disappointment for many fans who were hoping for a sizable DLC addition to the RPG. While it’s not a Persona title, many were hoping Metaphor: ReFantazio would follow in the footsteps of other Persona games, which typically receive an enhanced version with additional content as a follow-up. For now, it doesn’t seem like Metaphor: ReFantazio will get the same treatment.
I spent nearly 90 hours with Metaphor: ReFantazio when it launched in 2024, and, in my review, I said it was one of those rare games that you wish didn’t have to end. It’s an evolution of Persona and Shin Megami Tensei, with the Archetypes system adding a lot of depth to the combat system.
