The original Steam Deck launch in February 2022 really introduced an entirely new market of capable PC handhelds. Now we have the likes of the ASUS ROG Ally X, Lenovo Legion Go, and MSI Claw, which we checked out in person at CES 2024. Now, at 2025 Computex Taipei, MSI has unveiled its all-new Claw A8 featuring an 8-inch FHD+ (1920 × 1200) 120 Hz touchscreen, an AMD Ryzen Z2 Extreme processor, and up to 24 GB of LPDDR5x-8000 RAM.
For graphics, the MSI Claw A8 uses an AMD Radeon 890M GPU and has an IPS panel for its display. The device weighs about 1.7 pounds and is equipped with an 80 Whr battery. Ports include a pair of USB4 Type-C ports with DisplayPort and Power Delivery 3.0 support, which is Thunderbolt 4 compatible. Onboard is a single NVMe M.2 2280 SSD slot, but storage can be expanded with a microSD card.
It’s interesting that MSI decided to switch from Intel to AMD for the new Claw A8. No word yet on pricing or a release schedule for the MSI Claw A8, though it will be available in a stylish lime green finish.
