There were plenty of skeptics when Netflix first announced an animated series set in the Cyberpunk world, but Edgerunners became one of the best surprises of 2022. With an adult tone packed with dark and gritty scenes, Cyberpunk: Edgerunners has become one of the best video game adaptations. Now, Netflix has announced that Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 is in production and will be a standalone, 10-episode story, so it likely won’t tie into the first season.
Director Kai Ikarashi returns to the series, joined by lead character designer Kanno Ichigo, collaborators Masahiko Otsuka, and Hugo Award winner Bartosz Sztybor, who will serve as showrunner, story writer, and producer. Cyberpunk 2077 developer CD Projekt Red will collaborate on the project, and animation studio Trigger will once again handle the animation.
