MOUSE: P.I. For Hire has announced another delay, as the game is now launching on April 16, 2026. Originally slated to launch sometime last year, the game got delayed in October 2025 when the team at Fumi Games announced a March 19, 2026 release date. In a post on the game’s official Steam page, developer Fumi Games and publisher PlaySide Studios confirmed the title is in the final stages of development, and they want to take the extra time and care needed to make it an experience to remember. Unlike recent delay announcements, this one seemingly has nothing to do with Slay the Spire 2’s Early Access release.

I’ve been keeping an eye on MOUSE: P.I. For Hire since its announcement. The 1930s-inspired shooter features black-and-white rubber hose visuals that are drawn by hand, frame by frame. The result is a vintage aesthetic that we basically never see in games. Players take on the role of Private Investigator Jack Pepper, a former war hero-turned-detective. It’s a fast-paced first-person shooter featuring over 20 noir-infused levels filled with mice, rats, and shrews.

Considering how crowded the month of March has become, it’s probably a good idea for MOUSE: P.I. For Hire to push its date to April.
