The Mortal Kombat team has been teasing all sorts of things recently, but now we have an official teaser for an announcement. The latest video, titled “Tomorrow Is A New Dawn,” suggests an actual reveal will finally be made May 18 at 6:00am PDT or 9:00am EDT. If we had to guess, it’s probably a cinematic trailer announcing the next Mortal Kombat game, which is largely believed to reboot the timeline. We’ll probably have to wait until next week’s PlayStation Showcase for gameplay reveal.
Fighting game fans have a lot to look forward to, starting with Street Fighter 6 arriving in early June. An open beta for that game will be available this weekend from May 19 to May 21. Mortal Kombat has always been seen as Street Fighter’s main competitor throughout the decades, so it will be mighty interesting to see what the team at NetherRealm Studios has up its sleeves for the next entry in the beloved series.
