Originally revealed in April, Monster Hunter Now has a release date of September 14, 2023 and interested gamers can pre-register starting today. The mobile game comes from Niantic, the same developers as Pokemon Go, but it’ll be more than just a reskin. Naturally, as a Monster Hunter game, players will have to be able to hunt and engage with the monsters, while utilizing weapons that are familiar to the franchise.

At launch, there will be a total of 13 different monsters for players to hunt: Great Jagras, Kulu-Ya-Ku, Pukei-Pukei, Barroth, Great Girros, Tobi-Kadachi, Jyuratodus, Paolumu, Anjanath, Rathian, Legiana, Rathalos, and Diablos. Although the weapon types won’t be as varied, many of the franchise’s signature weapons, such as Sword & Shield, Great Sword, Long Sword, Hammer, Light Bowgun, and Bow, will be available at launch.

Capcom said that the collaboration with Niantic on Monster Hunter Now has been years in the making and they are very much looking forward to getting the world of Monster Hunter onto mobile devices. Like many mobile games, there are going to be milestones and rewards based on the number of pre-registrations.

  • 500,000 pre-registrations – Potion x10 & Paintball x3
  • 1,000,000 pre-registrations – Founder Medal & Wander Pebble x3
