Minecraft is getting a native Switch 2 version, confirmed during the latest Nintendo Direct. Launching later this year, the new version leans on the Vibrant Visuals graphics upgrade and comes with an updated Super Mario Mash-Up Pack built for Switch 2.

Vibrant Visuals, which Mojang first rolled out in 2025, adds touches like directional lighting, volumetric fog, moving shadows, and reflective water to the blocky sandbox. The Super Mario Mash-Up Pack is being updated to use those enhanced visuals, and it still bundles a custom Mario-themed world, 15 tracks, and 40 player skins drawn from the Super Mario series.

Players who buy the Switch 2 version can carry over their save data from the Nintendo Switch release, so existing worlds make the jump. The game keeps its cross-device play, local multiplayer, and online support, so you can keep playing with the same friends across platforms.
