Metaphor: ReFantazio is coming to Nintendo Switch 2 on November 12, 2026, bringing one of our favorite RPGs of recent years to a new platform. Atlus confirmed the port during the latest Nintendo Direct, and if you’ve been waiting for a reason to start, our review called it “one of those rare games that you wish didn’t have to end.”

In that review, I described Metaphor as the evolution of Persona and Shin Megami Tensei I’d been waiting for, and after nearly 90 hours, it somehow exceeded my expectations. The Archetype class system stood out as more engaging than Persona’s, wrapped around an epic adventure with a lovable cast, a memorable story, and a properly written villain. I called it “one of the most satisfying and fulfilling gaming experiences I’ve had in years,” and an easy recommendation for anyone into turn-based JRPGs.

The Switch 2 edition brings over the 2024 release, which won Best RPG, Best Narrative, and Best Art Direction at The Game Awards and became Atlus’s fastest-selling game. Atlus is pairing the launch with a limited-time Steelbook Edition, and the packaged version ships with a game key card. Metaphor: ReFantazio is already available on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, XBOX Series X|S, and PC, making the November 12 release its Nintendo debut.
