Mario Kart 8 will be heading to the Wii U this May the company has announced during a briefing in Japan. No definitive date has been set for the Mario Kart 8 release, but Nintendo did confirm that it’ll be arriving globally that month. In announcing that Mario Kart 8 will be released in May, Nintendo president Satoru Iwata iterated that stressed that he’ll make sure the game won’t be a one-off boost in momentum.
During the briefing, Iwata also revealed that Nintendo will not be releasing its popular franchises on other platforms, but is willing to license Nintendo characters to new partners. As for what the company will focus on for the next 10 years, its main theme will be enhancing the quality of life through entertainment. The company is currently developing something entirely new: non-wearables to monitor your health. Details of the new business will come later this year but won’t be launching until the fiscal year through March 2016.
