The Mario Kart 8 DLC packs have been officially announced and will be available in the U.S. starting on August 27. The first Mario Kart 8 DLC will be free and includes three Mercedes-Benz vehicles: GLA, W 25 Silver Arrow and 300 SL Roadster. After that, two additional Mario Kart 8 DLC packs will be available with the first one arriving in November for $7.99 and will include three characters, four vehicles and eight new tracks across two cups. The download will require 1 GB of space on the Wii U and will give Mario Kart 8 players access to Link, Tanooki Mario and Cat Peach while the revealed new vehicle is Blue Falcon from the F-Zero series – the other three are unknown.
Available in May 2015 will be the second Mario Kart 8 DLC pack which is also individually priced at $7.99. That pack will include three new characters (Villager, Isabelle and Dry Bowser) as well as four new vehicles and eight new tracks across two cups.
Nintendo also announced that Wii U gamers can purchase both DLC packs for just $11.99 as a bundle and as a bonus for purchasing both packs they will also receive eight new colors for Yoshi and Shy Guy.
Pre-purchase for the Mario Kart 8 DLC packs will begin on August 27.
