The upcoming Super Smash Bros. game for the Wii U and 2DS / 3DS will feature a new Mario Galaxy stage, game director Masahiro Sakurai has revealed on Nintendo Miiverse. According to Sakurai, the stage won’t just be about aesthetics, it’ll draw influence from the Mario Galaxy games with gravity affecting the battle: “The pull of gravity emanates from the center of the planet, so this will require using brand-new tactics.”
The new Super Smash Bros. will be heading to the Nintendo Wii U, 2DS and 3DS consoles sometime next year, but won’t offer cross-play capabilities between the home and handheld consoles. The two versions will also differ with some stages available in one game while others will be made purposely for the other format. However, the characters, their special moves and items will be “nearly identical.”
