The crowdfunding world is getting bigger as ManaCrowd has announced that it will be launching a new crowdfunding platform specifically targeting independent video games. Many indie developers have enjoyed great success through Kickstarter, so a crowdfunding platform focused simply on video games could be successful. According to the Toronto-based company, “ManaCrowd’s system will combine the services of traditional game publishing with the customer involvement of crowdfunding, while allowing all interested players to be involved in a game’s success from the earliest idea stage.”

How will ManaCrowd be different than Kickstarter or even Steam’s Greenlight? The company has revealed that player benefits will include the ability to engage with and communicate feedback directly to theg ame developers, royalties on future game sales to crowdfunding backers, and testing of new and unreleased games. Essentially, ManaCrowd is looking to market itself as a “crowdpublishing” process that focuses on consumer feedback, concept refinement, funding, consumer testing, title promotion tools, and access to online distribution channels from their one centralized system.

ManaCrowd is entering  closed beta in the near future, and is seeking interested indie developers and gamers to join in. If you’re interested, hit the source link and apply.
