Amazon is now including its Luna cloud gaming service directly in Prime Video, giving Prime members with a Fire TV in the U.S. and UK a new Games tab that sits alongside their shows, movies, and sports starting today. Luna is included with Prime at no additional cost, there’s nothing to download or purchase, and games can be played in seconds using a controller or a phone. Amazon says it built Luna for the billions of people who play games but don’t own a console or gaming PC, and incorporating the service with Prime Video is a solid step forward for the platform.
The library covers familiar heavy hitters like Hogwarts Legacy, EA Sports FC 26, and Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, plus GameNight party games such as Clue, Ticket to Ride, and Taboo, with new titles added every month. “For a lot of people, games have been harder to find than they should be,” said Jeff Gattis, GM of gaming at Amazon. “Bringing Luna inside Prime Video allows Prime members to discover games more naturally, and if they see one they like, they click it and they’re in.”
Amazon is also leaning into a watch-and-play angle across its catalog. The Masters of the Universe film is streaming on Prime Video, and members can now jump into Masters of the Universe: Legends Unite, a co-op card battler where up to four players team up as He-Man, Skeletor, and other Eternia characters against Hordak’s horde. There’s also Courtroom Chaos: Starring Arnold Schwarzenegger, an AI-powered party game that has players arguing absurd cases in front of Arnold as the judge, using only their phones. Schwarzenegger shows up again later this year in The Man with the Bag, an upcoming holiday movie on Prime Video, so Amazon’s suggestion is to watch him one night and play against him the next.
Back in April, Amazon dropped game purchases and third-party stores from Luna, and we argued at the time that the service was starting to feel more like a perk bundled with Prime than a standalone platform. Putting Luna inside Prime Video essentially turns that into the official strategy, with the service now positioned as the playable layer of Amazon’s larger entertainment bundle. Amazon says more devices, countries, and games will be announced in the months ahead.
