More familiar faces are joining the Star Wars Battlefront roster, including Leia, Han Solo and Emperor Palpatine. In the recent beta for Star Wars Battlefront, players got to see first hand what it’s like to step in the shoes of Luke Skywalker or Darth Vader and now more heroes and villains will be playable when the game releases on November 17, 2015.
EA and DICE also revealed details on how each of these new characters were developed, with Leia having a focus as a support character, buffing team members and helping hold positions. Players that spawn close to Leia in battle will come back as Alderaan Honor Guards. She’ll also have the Trooper Bane ability that is a hard-hitting, boosted blaster shot that is designed to be fired in single bursts. A stormtrooper will fall to one blast by Trooper Bane and against Villains, it will both deal a lot of damage and temporarily stun them.

No surprise here, but Han Solo will be a gunslinger mainly designed for lone wolves. One of Han’s abilities will be Rapid Fire, that lets him fire his Blaster as fast as you can pull the trigger without having to worry about overheating. There’s also Lucky Shot that is a “build up and release” power that hits really hard and is effective against vehicles – it’s even powerful enough to break Darth Vader’s block. Lastly, Han has the Shoulder Charge power that can be used both offensively or defensively to quickly get into battles, or out of them.
Lastly, there’s the iconic Emperor Palpatine whose main attack is Force Lightning which does a lot of damage to troops within reach. There’s also the more powerful Chain Lightning form that does an area of effect ability, dealing damage to enemies around you in all directions. Palpatine will also be able to Force Dash that allows him to move extremely fast in his current direction. And as the Empire’s team support Villain, he can use the Imperial Resources ability to hand out power-ups to teammates and health boosts to other Villains.
