Normally, games get delayed. But every now and then, we get the good news that a game is releasing earlier than expected. Warner Bros. Games and TT Games have moved up the release date for LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight by one week, from May 29 to May 22, on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store. The Switch 2 version is still planned for later in 2026. We covered the game’s initial announcement out of Gamescom and its release date reveal at The Game Awards, and this is the rare case where a game actually launches sooner than expected.
No official reason was given for the change, but 007 First Light was recently delayed from March 27 to May 27, which would have put it in the same release window as LEGO Batman. Moving up a week likely avoids any overlap with the James Bond game. Deluxe Edition buyers still get three days of early access, which now means they can start playing on May 19. All preorders continue to include The Dark Knight Returns Batsuit at launch.
May is shaping up to be a packed month, with Forza Horizon 6 on May 19, Yoshi and the Mysterious Book on May 21, and now LEGO Batman on May 22. It’s a lot of games in a very short window, but at least LEGO Batman has the advantage of appealing to a broader audience, including families and younger players who might not be picking up the other titles.
