When Ember Lab announced that Kena: Bridge of Spirits was heading to Switch 2 earlier this month, we only had a spring launch window. Turns out, the studio meant very early spring. Kena: Bridge of Spirits launches on Switch 2 on March 26 in North America, Europe, and Asia, and preorders are now available on the Nintendo eShop.
For anyone unfamiliar, Kena: Bridge of Spirits first launched on PlayStation platforms in September 2021 and went on to win Best Independent Game and Best Debut Indie Game at The Game Awards that year. Players take on the role of Kena, a young spirit guide searching for the sacred Mountain Shrine, uncovering the secrets of a forgotten village and freeing trapped spirits with the help of the Rot, her adorable yet surprisingly powerful companions. The game blends exploration, puzzle-solving, and fast-paced combat, and it’s a much deeper experience than its charming visuals might suggest.
The Switch 2 version includes the Anniversary DLC, which adds Charmstones, Spirit Guide Trials, Kena outfits, and accessibility features. It also comes with New Game+ mode, offering redesigned and more challenging combat encounters for players who want to restart Kena’s journey with all their previously unlocked abilities, upgrades, and outfits. As I mentioned in my previous coverage, Kena: Bridge of Spirits was one of the biggest surprises of 2021 for me. If you haven’t played it yet and own a Switch 2, this is a great way to experience it before Ember Lab’s sequel, Kena: Scars of Kosmora, arrives later this year. Kena: Bridge of Spirits is also available on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC.
