iRacing, a massive multiplayer online racing game, has released a video teasing Oculus Rift support that will undoubtedly get virtual drivers drooling everywhere. The online racing game is available for PC, but does require a monthly subscription in order to play, similar to many other MMOs. Unlike other virtual driving simulators out there however, iRacing focuses strictly on true race cars rather than conventional, production models. That means you’ll be climbing into the cockpit of a Lotus 79 open wheel race car rather than a run-of-the-mill Nissan GT-R.

According to the game’s website, iRacing features 61 road and oval laser-scanned tracks and 35 laser-scanned cars, with more being added. There are over 40 official series and over 400 private leagues available to its 40,000-plus members, creating a 24/7 online racing community. With more and more developers supporting the upcoming Oculus Rift, the HD 1080P consumer version can’t come out soon enough.
