Following the closed betas back in September and December, Arc System Works has revealed two more characters joining MARVEL Tōkon: Fighting Souls. Announced at EVO Japan 2026, Hulk (voiced by Fred Tatasciore) and Black Panther (voiced by Erica Luttrell) round out the third team in the game, the Fighting Avengers, alongside the previously revealed Captain America and Iron Man.
This version of Hulk has been exiled to the Savage Land by S.H.I.E.L.D. and even his fellow Avengers due to his instability, and his design leans into that backstory with dinosaur bone armor over the classic gamma-radiated frame. Mechanically, he builds a unique Gamma Gauge as he takes hits, which can be unleashed at maximum to enter Gamma Rage and significantly boost his strength and speed. Producer Takeshi Yamanaka teased that landing a one-shot attack at the right moment can deal massive damage.
The Black Panther in MARVEL Tōkon: Fighting Souls is Shuri, who has recently inherited the mantle from her brother and rules Wakanda as queen. She fights with the Spear of Bashenga at mid-range and has a high-speed mobility skill called Bast’s Blessing that lets her dash in multiple directions. The skill consumes its own dedicated gauge but can be canceled out of normal attacks and skills, opening up flexible combo and mixup opportunities. Wakanda itself was also revealed as a brand-new playable stage.

Arc System Works also pulled the curtain back a bit on the game’s central villain. The Champion is one of the Elders of the Universe, a cosmic conqueror obsessed with hand-to-hand combat who travels from planet to planet looking for worthy opponents. Worlds that fail to entertain him get destroyed, and Earth is now next on his list. He runs the “Challenge of the Champion” tournament alongside his right-hand showwoman, Promoter, with teams of four battling through qualifiers for the right to face him. The Fighting Avengers enter as one of the leading contenders, though Yamanaka hints there might be more to the tournament than just sport. More details on Champion are coming soon.
The next playable build will include Black Panther and Wakanda, bringing the total to 13 playable characters and five stages. It’ll be at Combo Breaker 2026 starting May 22 in Chicago and Hong Kong Comic Con 2026 starting May 29.
MARVEL Tōkon: Fighting Souls launches August 6, 2026 for PlayStation 5 and PC.
