Release date changes almost always mean a delay these days, but Hot Wheels Infinite Rush is moving in the opposite direction, with Milestone shifting the arcade racer’s launch up two weeks from September 24 to September 10. The announcement came via the game’s official X account, which framed it as “the finish line got a little closer.” Infinite Rush is coming to PlayStation 5, XBOX Series X|S, Switch 2, and PC via Steam, the Microsoft Store, and the Epic Games Store, with ROG XBOX Ally and ROG XBOX Ally X support included.

Milestone didn’t give a reason for the move, but it’s pretty obvious why. September has gotten very crowded as publishers position their fall releases clear of GTA VI’s November 19 launch, so it’s no surprise that some developers and publishers are now shifting dates around when they’re able to. Moving up two weeks keeps Infinite Rush in September while putting a little distance between it and everything else stacking up on the calendar.

Alongside the new date, the team released the first episode of Beyond the Track, a YouTube series digging into the game’s free-roaming side. The episode tours all four islands: Wheelswood, a skyscraper city with “something watching over it all,” the coastal Tentacle Bay, which the video warns is called that for a reason, the dusty, machinery-filled Gearville, and Drifty Temples, a land of cherry trees and ancient pagodas. Spread across those islands are Stunt events like the Delivery Stunt, a point A to point B precision run, and the Stuntman challenge, where the goal is the complete opposite: hit as many objects as possible. There are also collectibles tucked into hidden corners, portal challenges built around drift combos and average speed, and a Tourist activity that uses Photo Mode to capture hotspots for your album. A full campaign will have you challenging each island’s Rush Squad, though the video calls that a story for another time.

If you haven’t been following, Infinite Rush is Milestone’s follow-up to Hot Wheels Unleashed 2: Turbocharged and the first game in the series with a freely explorable open world. It packs more than 150 vehicles across four classes, a Track Builder that lets you weave courses around skyscrapers, and multiplayer with full cross-play and four-player split-screen. The original date came with an early access window starting three days ahead of launch, and it’s safe to assume that still applies to the new date.
