DOOM: The Dark Ages | Revelations is a new campaign expansion arriving July 7, picking up the Slayer’s saga after the events of the base game. Revealed during the XBOX Games Showcase, it lands about a year after DOOM: The Dark Ages launched as the biggest debut in id Software’s history. Bethesda is billing Revelations as a full campaign expansion, built around new levels, new demons, and a new weapon.
The setup finds the Slayer wounded and betrayed, thrust into a merciless purgatory he can only escape by confronting haunting truths and forging new strength with the help of a mysterious ally. The goal is to ascend from the prison of his mind and take down an abomination of the gods to set his followers on the path to freedom. Alongside new levels with deeper puzzles and new mysteries, Revelations adds the Chain Spear, a new weapon that Bethesda says rewards mastery with a mix of power and mobility. I also saw a glimpse of a classic DOOM II level and am really curious how that’ll play into Relevations.
Arriving the same day is the Ripatorium 3.0 update, which is free for all DOOM: The Dark Ages players and expands the game’s customizable arena challenge mode. It adds deeper customization, improved pass code generation, and personal preset options to the mode. Players who own Revelations also unlock three additional maps, more demons, and fully upgraded weapons to use in the Ripatorium once they finish the story.
Owners of the DOOM: The Dark Ages Premium Edition or the Collectors Bundle get Revelations at no extra cost at launch. Base game players can buy the standalone Revelations add-on for $19.99 on July 7, or upgrade to the Premium Edition, which is available now for $34.99. DOOM: The Dark Ages is out now on PlayStation 5, XBOX Series X|S, and PC through Steam and Battle.net, and it is included with XBOX Game Pass Ultimate, XBOX Game Pass Premium, and PC Game Pass, with XBOX Play Anywhere support across XBOX Series X|S and XBOX PC.
