Gran Turismo Sport Takes Racing to a New Level November 15

Gran Turismo Sport will take virtual racing to a whole new level starting November 15, 2016. Ever since Gran Turismo was introduced in 1997, the franchise has sold 76.74-million copies as of March 2016 and later this year, the newest entry will be heading to the PlayStation 4. Gran Turismo Sport will promote the rebirth of motorsports with its partnership with the Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA).

Although it is called Gran Turismo Sport, the game won’t feature just competition models. There will be plenty of exciting production vehicles for players to race in the game with the full lineup consisting of 140 vehicles, including original cars. Polyphony Digital showed off four of those vehicles: 2013 Ferrari LaFerrari, 2015 Mazda Roadster S (Mazda MX-5 Miata), 2014 Mercedes-AMG GT S and 2015 Ford Mustang GT Premium Fastback.

There will be numerous race cars at players’ disposal, including the Audi R8 LMS, McLaren 650S GT3, Renault Sport R.S.01 GT3, Toyota FT-1 Vision Gran Turismo Gr.3, Subaru WRX Gr.3 and Chevrolet Corvette C7 Gr.3. If some of these don’t sound familiar to you, that’s because some of the vehicles have been customized by Gran Turismo to meet GT3 specifications.

The Vision Gran Turismo project that started with Gran Turismo 6 will carry on in Gran Turismo Sport. Vision Gran Turismo has resulted in some of the world’s best concept vehicles yet, including the Bugatti Vision Gran Turismo and Nissan Vision 2020 Gran Turismo, which previews the next-generation Nissan GT-R.

There will also be a variety of new tracks heading to the game, including the world famous Nürburgring Nordschleife, while the legendary Tokyo Expressway and the half-mile oval dubbed the Northern Isle Speedway will make their series debut. Other tracks confirmed for Gran Turismo Sport include Brands Hatch and Willow Springs Raceway, Big Willow.

And to carry on the motorsports theme, Gran Turismo Sport will feature an in-depth livery editor so everyone can make their own graphics for their race cars.
