Google has unveiled the first of its many April Fools’ jokes for this year, spinning the company’s Maps app into a Pokémon Challenge. Pokémon fans globally often wonder how the world would be if Pokémons were real, and Google Maps has decided to take that one step further with its Pokémon Challenge. The fictional Google Maps job application has users taking advantage of an augmented reality interface on their smartphone device to capture nearby Pokemons.
According to the tech giant, “dozens of wild Pokémon have taken up residence on streets, amidst forests and atop mountains throughout Google Maps. To catch ’em all, grab your Poké Ball and the newest version of Google Maps for iPhone or Android. Then tap the search bar, ‘press start,’ and begin your quest.”
