Godzilla: Destroy All Monsters Melee, the 2002 cult-classic kaiju brawler, is getting a full remaster from original publisher Atari and original developer Pipeworks, working with Toho International. Godzilla: Destroy All Monsters Melee Remastered rebuilds the GameCube and Xbox arena fighter in Unreal Engine 5, and it’s due out November 3. The core is still kaiju-versus-kaiju brawling across destructible cities, where the arenas double as weapons, letting players pick up and throw buildings at their rivals.
Players pick from a roster of 12 kaiju, including the fan-favorite Showa-era Mechagodzilla, each with its own moveset spanning melee attacks, ranged energy blasts, and special Rage Mode strikes. Fights play out across eight locations, each with day and night variations, including real-world cities like Tokyo and San Francisco, Monster Island, and the alien Mothership. Scoring rewards both citywide destruction and direct combat, so the goal is to be the last monster standing in the rubble, whether you get there by leveling the city or out-fighting your rivals.
On top of the visual overhaul, the remaster targets 4K performance while keeping what Pipeworks describes as 99 percent mechanical fidelity to the original. The biggest additions are online multiplayer and matchmaking, which join the returning local co-op, along with native support for modern haptics. A streamlined currency-based unlock system also lets players unlock monsters, locations, and gallery items in any order, and each kaiju gets its own single-player campaign.
Godzilla: Destroy All Monsters Melee Remastered launches November 3 across PlayStation 5, XBOX Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC via Steam. The digital version runs $29.99 on every platform, and physical editions are open for preorder today on atari.com. Those come as a $29.99 PlayStation 5 disc and a $39.99 Nintendo Switch 2 release that ships on a full cartridge.
