Frosthaven is leaving Early Access, with developer Snapshot Games setting October 15 as the launch date for the full 1.0 version on PC. The digital adaptation of Isaac Childres’ acclaimed board game will hit Steam and the Epic Games Store that day, capping a run in Early Access that started back in July 2025. It comes from Snapshot Games, the studio led by XCOM creator Julian Gollop, with Arc Games publishing.
The 1.0 release is the complete version, folding in everything Snapshot has added across Early Access along with the content that was still missing. That includes the complete story campaign with its final chapter, the full roster of all 17 playable heroes as the last one joins at launch, and a set of newcomer-friendly features the team leaned on community feedback to build. Chief among those is the digital-only Road to Frosthaven introduction, which eases players into the board game’s famously dense systems, backed by a fully implemented in-game codex. No more note-taking required. Customizable house rules, enhanced co-op, an opening cinematic, and a standalone demo round out the 1.0 additions.
The Early Access build has held mostly positive reviews on Steam, and Frosthaven is a spiritual successor to Gloomhaven, running on the same deep, card-driven tactical combat with an outpost to build and defend between fights.
