All mainline single-player Final Fantasy games are now available on Xbox Series X|S and PC starting today with the release of Final Fantasy XVI. The game is available digitally as the full Final Fantasy XVI Complete Edition, which includes Echoes of the Fallen and The Rising Tide DLCs at a discounted price, or individually as the standalone base game, the DLC chapters, or the Final Fantasy XVI Expansion Pass. It also supports Xbox Play Anywhere, which means ownership transfers across console, PC, and cloud with cross-save functionality. The game’s demo is also available for free download on Xbox Series X|S, with save data carrying over to the full game.
Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade is also heading to Xbox Series X|S and Xbox PC this winter. No word yet on when Final Fantasy VII Rebirth will be available on Xbox.
As a longtime Final Fantasy fan, I was extremely excited for Final Fantasy XVI following my disappointment with Final Fantasy XV. In my review, I said Final Fantasy XVI offers some of the highest highs you’ll ever experience in gaming, along with some of the lowest lows. I also reviewed both DLCs: Echoes of the Fallen and The Rising Tide. The former was a bit disappointing, primarily consisting of a dungeon run with several boss fights, while The Rising Tide suffers from the same issues as the base game, though it adds more spectacle and story elements than Echoes of the Fallen.
