Final Fantasy XIV’s next major patch, 7.3, now has a title: The Promise of Tomorrow. Set to launch in early August 2025, Patch 7.3 will include new main scenario quests, the next chapter of the Echoes of Vana’diel alliance raid series, a brand-new Deep Dungeon, the first update to the gathering- and crafting-focused Cosmic Exploration, and more. The announcements came during the latest Letter from the Producer Live broadcast, where the team always breaks down upcoming patch content.
The upcoming new dungeon in Patch 7.3 is The Meso Terminal, while the Deep Dungeon is named Pilgrim’s Traverse. Raiders can look forward to the new Unreal Trial, The Wreath of Snakes (Unreal), along with Echoes of Vana’diel, Part 2: San d’Oria: The Second Walk. We’ll also get a new Trial, which is currently unnamed. Players can also look forward to more Inconceivably Further Hildibrand Adventures, Allied Society Quests with the Yok Huy, a New Treasure Dungeon called Vault Oneiron, Duty Support Additions for Cutter’s Cry, PvP updates, and Phantom Weapons.
It doesn’t appear that Final Fantasy XIV will break tradition anytime soon as major patches and their content have been consistent for years. Perhaps the team will implement some major changes with the next expansion, because World of Warcraft is getting pretty aggressive with its roadmap.
Along with sharing details on Patch 7.3, Square Enix has revealed Final Fantasy XIV: Chronicles of Light (Novel), Volume II, which is a collection of short stories that expands on the rich lore of Final Fantasy XIV Online. The physical print release is scheduled for December 2025, with preorders now live at the Square Enix Store and opening at other major booksellers tomorrow, June 21. A digital version of the book will launch on October 7, 2025. The second volume of The Ultimate Final Fantasy XIV Cookbook is also now available for preorder, with an October 21 release. The 192-page cookbook lets readers create cuisine from the world of Final Fantasy XIV, including the now-iconic Tacos de Carne Asada.
Final Fantasy XIV’s latest expansion, Dawntrail, is the start of a new era for the game. The long-running MMORPG wrapped up its first major story arc with Endwalker in one of the best gaming experiences I’ve ever had. Dawntrail was never going to live up to Endwalker, but served as a nice reset. In my Final Fantasy XIV: Dawntrail review, I noted how the game continues doing things the way it knows best, even if it desperately needs something new.
