Square Enix has released a free demo for Final Fantasy VII Rebirth on Switch 2, Xbox Series X|S, and Xbox on PC ahead of the game’s June 3, 2026 launch on those platforms. Progress from the demo carries over to the full game.
The demo covers the first two chapters of Final Fantasy VII Rebirth. Chapter 1 is the Nibelheim incident from five years before the main story, putting players in control of a younger Cloud Strife and Sephiroth as they investigate strange monster activity outside Cloud’s hometown. Chapter 2 picks up with Cloud and the rest of the party setting out across the Grasslands region, which is when the open-world structure of the game opens up. It includes side stories, hidden treasures, and access to Queen’s Blood, the popular card minigame. Streamlined Progression, which debuted on Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade on Switch 2 and Xbox, is also enabled in the demo, which gives players unlimited HP and MP, a permanently full ATB gauge, and faster weapon ability acquisition for anyone who just wants to focus on the story.
Preorders for the full game on Switch 2 and Xbox include the Magic Pot Summoning Materia, the Reclaimant Choker accessory, the Orchid Bracelet armor, a digital artbook, and a mini-soundtrack. The Digital Deluxe Edition adds the Moogle Trio Summoning Materia, Posh Chocobo Summoning Materia, and two more armor pieces. Physical Switch 2 preorders also include a Magic: The Gathering x Final Fantasy promotional Zack Fair card with variant art by Tetsuya Nomura, while supplies last. The Xbox version is 20 percent off until June 10, 2026.
Personally, I consider Final Fantasy VII Rebirth the best game I’ve ever played, and my review gets into why. With Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade already on Switch 2 and Xbox, and the third and final installment of the trilogy currently in production, the entire saga-so-far is finally available across all modern platforms.
