Following a closed beta last month (read our impressions here), Final Fantasy VII Ever Crisis has an official release date: September 7, 2023. The mobile RPG comes from the same developers as NieR Re[in]carnation and plays very much like a reskinned version of that game. Over one million users have pre-registered for Final Fantasy VII Ever Crisis, but there are still more milestones to reach for free rewards. With 1.2 and 1.5 million pre-registrations, the previous rewards ranging from the 70k to 700k milestones will be doubled.

To celebrate the pre-registration milestone, Square Enix is gifting a 5-star Weapon Draw Ticket to all future players, in addition to the previous milestone rewards. While Final Fantasy VII Ever Crisis is going to be a gacha mobile game, we’re hoping it’s very free-to-play friendly like Dissidia Final Fantasy Opera Omnia. The game is a chapter-structured RPG experience that covers key elements from the Final Fantasy VII timeline, including events from the original game and new story elements focusing on a young Sephiroth, written by Final Fantasy VII Remake story and scenario writer Kazushige Nojima.
