FEAR Online has been announced as a free-to-play online shooter developed by Inplay Interactive and published by Aeria Games. FEAR, which stands for First Encounter Assault Recon, was a psychological horror, first-person shooter originally developed by Monolith Productions and published by Vivendi Universal in October 2005. The original was followed by two sequels, with FEAR 2 release in February 2009 and FEAR 3 released on June 2011.

FEAR Online probably won’t live up to the expectations of franchise fans, considering Monolith Productions isn’t involved with it. Aeria Games has announced that it’s taking beta applications, so if you’re interested to see what it’s all about, hit the source to sign up. If you’re still not sold on the idea, there’s a trailer for the game below.
