NCAA Football 14, which was the top-selling game in July, might be the last of the storied franchise from Electronic Arts. The company has confirmed that it will not be publishing a college football game next year and is currently evaluating its plan for the future of the franchise.

It’s disappointing news, but it’s also not surprising. For those that follow the college football game, the dispute between the NCAA and student-athletes has been getting louder and louder. Student-athletes are seeking compensation for playing football in college, a sport that has become extremely lucrative for everyone involved except for the players.

The ongoing legal issues have caused the NCAA and a number of conferences to pull their support of the NCAA Football series and now EA has pulled its own support for the franchise. For now, the team will be shifted over to other projects within EA Sports but will also remain dedicated to bringing updates to NCAA Football 14.
