After numerous delays, DriveClub now has an official release date of October 7, 2014 in the U.S. and October 8 in Europe. The anticipated PlayStation 4 racing game was originally supposed to be a launch title for the new console, but was then delayed to early 2014. Once 2014 rolled around, Sony and Evolution Studios once again delayed the game without announcing a release date until now.
Expect more information on the upcoming racer in the coming weeks leading up to E3, especially details on the version heading to PlayStation Plus members. Originally, Sony announced that DriveClub would be offered as part of the PlayStation Plus Instant Game Collection on the PlayStation 4’s console launch and the company intends to keep on that promise when the game is released.
The genre of racing simulators is continuing to grow, especially with Project CARS releasing a stunning trailer last week. Of course there will be a Gran Turismo entry for the PlayStation 4 coming sometime… in this decade. Maybe.
