Cyberpunk 2077 Update 2.5 Adds Console Mods, Dual-Wielding
Cyberpunk 2077’s free Edgerunners 2 Update (2.5) arrives October 22 with two side quests, console mod support, dual-wielding, and DLSS 4.5.
Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 premiered on Netflix yesterday, October 20, and CD Projekt Red is following the standalone second series with a free Cyberpunk 2077 update built around it. The Edgerunners 2 Update, also known as Patch 2.5, arrives on October 22 on PlayStation 5, XBOX Series X|S, and PC and Mac via Steam, GOG, and the Epic Games Store, with the Switch 2 and Mac App Store versions following in the days after. CD Projekt Red posted the full patch notes a day early, and for a game that passed 40 million copies sold in July, the list covers two new side quests, mod support on consoles, dual-wielding, and cyberware customization.
The Edgerunners tie-in is a new side quest called Clampdown, which is set before the events of the series and unlocks after completing The Heist and two gigs for Wakako, at which point she sends a message. Playing through it earns a five-piece gear set based on King, one of the show’s new characters, and a new radio station, HKGN 102.0 FM, plays tracks from the Cyberpunk: Edgerunners series. A second side quest, Welcome to Paradise, sends V on a guided tour of Night City narrated by Richard Night, and it unlocks after The Heist once V reaches 15 Street Cred. The update also adds 12 Minor Arcana tarot cards to find around the city as an extension of the Fool on the Hill quest, with a special reward for collecting all of them.
As for combat, the Cool tree gets a new Double Trouble perk, along with four supporting perks, that lets V dual-wield pistols and revolvers from the Power category, and Photo Mode adds poses to go with it. Hand cyberware can now be customized by equipping Mantis Blades, Gorilla Arms, the Monowire, or the Projectile Launch System and visiting one of five new Glamdocs, each in its own shop with an intro scene and a catalog of skins with adjustable colors. There’s also a batch of cosmetics, including five new outfit sets sold by clothing vendors (Maxiwear, Jinguji, NetWatch, IconAmerica, and a fifth coming later), the NUS Infiltrator set, hairstyles that were previously limited to NPCs, four Quadra Turbo-R V-Tech skins through Twitch Drops, and Photo Mode frames styled after the Cyberpunk Trading Card Game.
The other big addition is Cross-Platform Mod Support powered by mod.io, which lets players browse and install a selection of player-created mods from the in-game menu on PC, Mac, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 5 Pro, and XBOX Series X|S, with more mods added over time. Modded saves get their own icon in the Load Game menu, and console players can’t earn achievements or trophies while playing on one. Beyond that, saves are now grouped by playthrough in the Load Game menu, apartment and vehicle stashes get item filters, and consoles get a field of view slider.
On the technical side, the update adds DLSS 4.5 with up to 6X Multi Frame Generation and the second-generation transformer model, swaps FSR 3 upscaling for FSR 4 while keeping FSR 3.1 Frame Generation, adds MetalFX frame interpolation on Mac, supports glasses-free 3D on Samsung Odyssey 3D monitors, and improves HDR rendering along with ray tracing and PlayStation 5 Pro performance. The fixes include the “insufficient space” save error on Switch 2, HDR settings that did nothing on PlayStation 5, and the Delamain cab getting stuck after a crash, and the complete list is in the patch notes on CD Projekt Red’s site.
