Cyberpunk 2077 made headlines for all the wrong reasons when it initially launched in December 2020. Launched in a buggy state, Cyberpunk 2077 pushed developer CD Projekt Red to turn the game into a wild success, much like The Witcher 3. All that hard work has paid off, with Cyberpunk 2077 now having sold over 35 million units worldwide as of November 26, 2025. That figure includes copies of the game sold separately and in the Ultimate Edition bundle. That’s basically another five million copies in a year, since around this time last year it was at 30 million units sold.
The game’s reach also expanded when it joined the PlayStation Plus Game Catalog in July 2025, though that doesn’t contribute to the total sales figure. Given the success of Cyberpunk 2077, it’s no surprise CD Projekt Red is pursuing a sequel, which was announced in May 2025. Currently, the team has 447 developers working on The Witcher 4, while Cyberpunk 2’s team has grown from 116 to 135 in the last quarter. The multiplayer-oriented Project Sirius currently has 56 developers, while the original IP Project Hadar has 29.
