If you couldn’t already tell from the lineup of roguelites we’ve been digging into lately, the genre is in a real golden age right now. Today, publisher Dotemu and developer Alt Shift confirmed that Battlestar Galactica: Scattered Hopes will launch on PC on May 11, 2026, and it looks like another one worth keeping on the radar. The reveal came alongside a new gameplay trailer that gives a closer look at the Cylons, the iconic sentient robot antagonists relentlessly hunting down what’s left of humanity.

In Scattered Hopes, players take on the role of a Gunstar Captain leading a fleet of survivors after the Twelve Colonies have fallen. The Cylons are always close behind, and survival depends on managing your crew’s time wisely between repairs, internal conflicts, and exploration. Hidden Cylons within the fleet, mounting crises, and dwindling resources all threaten to tear things apart from the inside. The combat is built around the franchise’s iconic concept from the “33” episode of the 2004 series: resist until you can jump. Players deploy fighter squadrons from their hangars in a hybrid of real-time and tactical combat, balancing offense and defense long enough to execute the next FTL jump to safety.

The game leans hard into roguelite progression, with every run unlocking new squadrons, weapons, and meta upgrades that expand future tactical options. No two runs play out the same, with procedural narrative design shaping a different journey every time. Alt Shift previously developed Crying Suns, an acclaimed tactical narrative roguelite that’s drawn comparisons to FTL, so the team has the pedigree to back this up. Dotemu, meanwhile, has been on a tear lately as a publisher. We absolutely loved Absolum, Dotemu’s roguelite beat ’em up that we called Hades II-level polish in a beat ’em up format, and Battlestar Galactica: Scattered Hopes seems to continue the publisher’s pattern of betting on quality roguelites.

For Battlestar Galactica fans, this is shaping up to be a properly authentic adaptation rather than a licensed cash grab. Battlestar Galactica: Scattered Hopes launches May 11, 2026 on PC via Steam, with a demo currently available for those who want to give it a try first.
