Last week, Ball x Pit confirmed the release date for The Regal Update, which is today, January 26. At the time, we mainly knew about the two new treasure seekers, but the game was teasing a nice surprise that the community has been asking for. Turns out, that surprise is an Endless Mode, allowing players to push each level as far as they can handle, continuing indefinitely so long as they’re alive. Each time they finish a boss in that area, they’ll have to agree to continue deeper into the pit.
As for the two new characters, one is the Falconer, who has a pair of birds flanking the screen, and the Carouser, a troublemaker who twists ball trajectories into a personal gravity field. Joining those two are eight new balls, including Fireworks, the Stone Ball, and the Landslide. The Fireworks ball bursts outward in unpredictable patterns, resulting in scattered damage everywhere, while the Stone Ball hits like a truck on impact before slowly crumbling as it bounces. As for the Landslide, it lives up to its name by triggering a cascading wave of debris in front of the first impact, dealing damage that lasts for a few seconds to surrounding enemies.
There are also new passives, such as Deadeye’s Impaler, which increases critical hit chance. Another one is Grotesque Artillery, which pulls from the player’s gear and fires off a random ball from the equipped lineup every time it triggers. The third one the team revealed is Iron Onesie, which rewards chaos by boosting the damage of special balls based on how many baby balls are bouncing around the field.
Those who have already beaten the game should have everything unlocked, except for blueprints, which they’ll need to find in levels. Otherwise, the new content unlocks as players progress in the game. The Regal Update also adds support for various new languages, including Spanish (Latin America), Polish, Italian, Thai, Turkish, and Ukrainian.
As one of our favorite games of 2025, Ball x Pit really fed into our roguelite craze last year. As I said in my review, it takes the classic gameplay of 1976’s Breakout and adds modern mechanics to deliver something truly unique and addictive.
