Astro Bot has continued to collect trophies on the awards circuit, this time walking away with five wins at the 2025 BAFTA Awards, including Best Game. Psychological horror game Still Wakes the Deep received three awards, while Helldivers 2 took home two, one of which is a rather questionable Music award. The Helldivers 2 soundtrack was fine and all, but it really shouldn’t have won over Final Fantasy VII Rebirth’s soundtrack. Hell, Astro Bot’s soundtrack is much more memorable. While Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II was the most nominated game, it only took home one award for the night.
Along with this year’s winners, the renowned Japanese composer, Yoko Shimomura, received the BAFTA Fellowship for her contributions to the industry. Shimomura is likely best known for the Kingdom Hearts series, but she was also responsible for Final Fantasy XV, Super Mario RPG, the Mario & Luigi games, and contributed to the original Xenoblade Chronicles.
Other winners from the 2025 BAFTA Awards include Metaphor: ReFantazio for Narrative, Balatro for Debut Game, and Thank Goodness You’re Here! for British Game. You can see the full list of this year’s winners below.
