Angry Birds Epic has been revealed to be a turn-based role-playing game, breaking tradition from previous entries in the Angry Birds franchise. Though details are light, the news comes courtesy of Kotaku along with a screenshot showing the battle system. The only major tidbit that was revealed is that there will be an extensive crafting system in the game, allowing players to craft their own bird armor, weapons and potions.
It appears that Angry Birds Epic will launch in Canada and Australia later this week in a soft launch that is likely more akin to a beta. The finished version of the game will be available later this year globally for iOS, Android and Windows 8.
Naturally, our first thoughts is that Rovio took a page out of the recent South Park: The Stick of Truth game… but then again, who thought you could teach old birds new tricks?
