Nintendo is expanding its My Mario lineup, a product series aimed at children. Originally announced in August, the My Mario lineup is adding Yoshi items that will be available starting November 18 at Nintendo stores in Tokyo, Osaka, Kyoto, and Fukuoka. Unfortunately, for now, it doesn’t look like they’ll be heading to the Nintendo stores in the U.S. The good news is, one of the items will be available to everyone for free starting November 18. It’s a new app called Yoshi Face, which lets users freely touch Yoshi’s face, such as stretching out its tongue to eat items, or have different-colored Yoshis appear from eggs. Look for it on the App Store, Google Play, and Nintendo Switch.
As for the physical items, things kick off with the Sing and Talk! Floating Yoshi. It’s a Yoshi toy from Joypalette that, when called, will flap its arms, sway from side to side, talk, and sing. The Yoshi has 13 different voice lines, and the melodies include Yoshi’s Story and Yoshi’s Song. These Yoshis have a note-shaped embroidery on the bottom of their feet, and pressing it swaps between talking mode and melody mode.
Also available starting November 18 are Happinet’s Yoshi plush toys, including Dudu and Rattle. These are catered toward infants but are adorable nonetheless and likely a nice addition for Yoshi plushie collectors. November 18 also adds Block Yoshi, Block Peach, and Block Luigi to the Tsumiki Mario Special set. These are building block toys that can also be used as amiibo.
On November 20, the stores will add the My Mario Picture Book: Lick-Lick Yoshi. It comes from Shogakukan and is a children’s book featuring Yoshi as it sticks out its tongue and munches on fruit. The book will also be stocked at general bookstores nationwide in Japan.
Yoshi fans visiting Japan will want to make a stop at the Nintendo stores to get their hands on the merch. Currently, there are three stores: Tokyo, Osaka, and Kyoto. Nintendo is opening a fourth store on November 14 in Fukuoka, and it will also carry My Mario items.
