A new Marvel fighting game is in the works from the developers of Guilty Gear -Strive-, Arc System Works. Officially called Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls, PlayStation Studios and Marvel Games are working with Arc System Works to bring this 4v4 tag team fighter to life sometime in 2026. According to game director and lead battle designer Kazuto Sekine, Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls is being designed for a wide variety of players, not necessarily just fighting game veterans.
“Generally, a team VS fighting game requires the player to learn multiple characters, but for Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls, you only need to master one character in order to play the game,” said Kazuto Sekine. “We have designed the mechanics in such a way that you can perform a variety of actions with either traditional fighting game inputs or simple inputs. With the press of a few buttons, multiple characters can appear on screen to provide backup or attack together – creating a new and exciting team VS battle experience.”
The debut trailer revealed some of Marvel’s most iconic characters, including Captain America, Iron Man, Spider-Man, Doctor Doom, Storm, Ms. Marvel, Star-Lord, and Ghost Rider. Surely those who grew up playing the Marvel vs. Capcom series probably got a bit excited when they saw Storm show up in a fighting game again. We also got a preview of some of the stages, which will be filled with easter eggs for Marvel fans.
