Last March, the PlayStation 5 added Discord voice chat, but it wasn’t a seamless integration. To join a voice chat channel, players had to use their PC or mobile apps and then transfer it to their PlayStation 5 console. Thankfully, that’s about to change as PlayStation announced PlayStation 5 players will be able to join Discord voice chat directly from their console. The feature is rolling out gradually over the coming weeks, starting with players in Japan/Asia, followed by Europe, Australia/New Zealand, the Middle East, and finally, the Americas.
Once the feature rolls out to your region, you’ll be able to select the Discord tab in Game Base and choose the Discord server or DM group you’d like to join. Then, you’ll select the preferred voice channel. The update will also send console notifications when another Discord user calls you, allowing you to join right away. Of course, you’ll have to make sure your PlayStation Network and Discord accounts are linked in order to take advantage of the feature.
PlayStation also announced that starting next week, it will roll out Profile Share, which allows users to easily share their PlayStation Network profile on any messaging or social app.
