Homeworld 3, which is set to launch in February 2024, has revealed a new game mode called War Games. It features roguelike-inspired gameplay, where players will need to manage their fleet across waves of enemies, while claiming powerful artifacts and upgrading ships with each completed objective. The mode can be played either solo or co-op with up to two others (three players total).

Based on what we can see, players will select a starting fleet and complete three random combat challenges. After completing each objective, players can choose Artifacts to upgrade their ships. Similar to other roguelike games, experience will be earned throughout progression, unlocking additional Artifacts and starting fleets, making subsequent attempts a bit easier. Developer Blackbird Interactive also shared that it plans to keep evolving the War Games mode after the game launches with possible DLC.

It sounds like an interesting game mode, with a different take on the co-op mode that StarCraft II offers. I loved my previous experiences with Homeworld Remastered Collection and Homeworld: Deserts of Kharak, and am looking forward to the release of Homeworld 3.
