One of my highly anticipated games of the year, Homeworld 3, has now been delayed to February 2024. The announcement came from developer Blackbird Interactive and Gearbox Publishing and was posted on Twitter as a fairly generic statement. The team needs more time to refine and polish the game, which has been in development since 2017. This is the second delay for Homeworld 3, originally aimed for release in 2022.

The original Homeworld is a real-time strategy game developed by Relic Entertainment and was released in 1999. Its sequel, Homeworld 2, came four years later in 2003. We reviewed the Homeworld Remastered Collection upon its release in 2015, and we also reviewed the spinoff Homeworld: Deserts of Kharak when it came out in 2016. We have reasons to believe the franchise is in good hands, considering Deserts of Kharak was developed by Blackbird Interactive, the same team behind Homeworld 3.
