Nintendo Wii U sales continue to struggle, despite a price drop and enticing packages that bundle games such as The Wind Waker HD. Today, the company announced that its estimated forecast for Wii U sales has been slashed from 9-million units to a paltry 2.8-million units and despite the 3DS being the best-selling console of 2013, Nintendo has lowered that forecast from 18 million to 13.5 million.

The company now expects another net loss of 25-billion yen for the fiscal year. Nintendo president Satoru Iwata has apologized to shareholders and admitted responsibility for the company’s poor financial results. He has no intentions of stepping down from the position and is eager to restoring momentum as quickly as possible, vowing to stay on as president to see it through.

Though there’s a lineup of impressive games heading to the console, Wii U sales could continue to struggle especially now that the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One are readily available on the marketplace.
