This year will go down in video game history as one of the best years in gaming, and some of the releases in October 2023 will likely contribute to that. With that said, here are the top games we are looking forward to playing in October 2023.

Disgaea 7: Vows of the Virtueless
Disgaea 7: Vows of the Virtueless launches October 3 on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Switch, and PC. The latest entry in this Strategy Role-Playing Game (SRPG) franchise has plenty of new features such as Jumbification, Hell Mode, and Item Reincarnation, as well as improved auto-battle and online ranked battles. With a roster boasting over 40 character classes, players have unprecedented freedom to customize their teams.
Assassin’s Creed Mirage
The next Assassin’s Creed game, titled Assassin’s Creed Mirage, is set to arrive on October 5 and will be available on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. As the 13th major installment in the franchise, Assassin’s Creed Mirage takes players on a new adventure featuring the story of Basim, a cunning street thief looking for answers and justice in ninth-century Baghdad.
Detective Pikachu Returns
Detective Pikachu Returns is set to arrive exclusively on the Nintendo Switch on October 6. Join forces with Pikachu and his human partner, Tim Goodman, to solve a series of gripping mysteries. Help Pikachu and Tim uncover the mystery behind Tim’s father’s disappearance and unravel the cause of the Pokémon-related incidents in Ryme City.
Forza Motorsport
Mark your calendars for October 10, when the next entry in Xbox’s iconic Forza Motorsport franchise speeds onto Xbox Series X|S and PC. With a lineup of over 500 real-world cars — more than 100 of which are new to the franchise — gearheads can fine-tune their dream cars with a staggering 800+ performance upgrades. Aiming to set a new standard in next-gen gameplay, Forza Motorsport features photorealistic visuals and real-time ray tracing on the track.
Lords of the Fallen
Craving a soulslike action RPG this October? Look no further than Lords of the Fallen. Set to launch on October 13 across multiple platforms including PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S, and PC, Lords of the Fallen takes place in a vast, interconnected world that is over five times larger than the original game. After customizing your character and selecting from one of nine available classes, set out on an epic quest to overthrow Adyr.
Sonic Superstars
Get ready for a fresh twist on classic 2D Sonic, when Sonic Superstars launches on October 17 across multiple platforms: PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Switch, and PC. Step into the shoes of iconic characters like Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, and Amy Rose while harnessing all-new Emerald powers to move and attack in dynamic new ways. Revamping the classic Sonic formula, the game introduces a four-player co-op mode for the first time.
Marvel’s Spider-Man 2
Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is likely many PlayStation 5 owners’ most anticipated game for 2023. Set to launch on October 20, the game features an exhilarating new adventure with Peter Parker and Miles Morales. Switch seamlessly between the two Spider-Men to explore unique storylines and wield new powers. Face off against formidable foes like Venom, Kraven the Hunter, and Lizard, who are hell-bent on wreaking havoc in the city.
Super Mario Bros. Wonder
Also set to launch on October 20 is Super Mario Bros. Wonder, the next installment in the 2D Mario adventure series, exclusively on the Nintendo Switch. Taking classic Mario side-scrolling gameplay to a whole new level, Super Mario Bros. Wonder introduces Wonder Flowers to the franchise. These game-changing items will have wild new effects never before seen in a Mario game. Cities: Skylines II
Mark your calendars for October 24, when the highly-anticipated sequel to one of our all-time favorite city-building games, Cities: Skylines II, launches on PC.
