When the first trailer debuted for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie, many expected Yoshi to make an appearance. This was mainly because of Pillsbury cookie leaks ahead of the trailer’s release, but many also expected to see the fan-favorite dinosaur because of a teaser in The Super Mario Bros. Movie. The first trailer, however, focused on the introductions of Rosalina (Brie Larson) and Bowser Jr. (Benny Safdie), and the second trailer finally gives us our first look at Yoshi… and a whole lot more.

Those who grew up playing the classic Super Mario Bros. games will spot plenty of surprises in the Yoshi First Look trailer. We also see Birdo, Clawgrip, and Mouser, all from Super Mario Bros. 2, which introduced playable Toad and Princess Peach to the franchise. This likely means Wart will make an appearance, too. We also see Baby Mario and Baby Luigi, with Yoshi holding a Super Scope, which throws it back to Yoshi’s Safari and Super Mario World 2: Yoshi’s Island. There’s also familiar sights from Super Mario Odyssey scattered throughout this new trailer.

The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is looking to really bring in elements from numerous games from over the years, and we can’t wait to see how the team manages to tie it all together. One thing is clear, though: This movie is looking to please Mario fans of all ages. There’s no confirmation on who is voicing Yoshi, but based on the trailer, it appears he won’t be talking and will stick to Yoshi noises, which is great. Also, the movie is bumping up its release date from April 3 to April 1, 2026.
