The Xbox One Twitch live streaming feature has been delayed on the next-generation console from Microsoft. No definitive date was announced by the company, though it promises that it will hopefully deliver it by the first part of 2014.

The Twitch live streaming service has turned out to be one of the coolest features on the new Sony PlayStation 4, mostly because of how easy it is to get it up and running. It’s unfortunate that the Xbox One Twitch live streaming service will be delayed, considering it was one of the initial boasting points by Microsoft.

It’s unclear what caused the delay, but it’s really a blow to the Xbox One; not so much because the feature is missing for console owners, but the millions of viewers that it could have reached out to with a push of a button, essentially advertising the Xbox One exclusives to gamers that were on the fence. A few months might not seem like a long time to wait for the Xbox One Twitch live streaming service to go live, but those few months will be spent with millions of gamers watching PlayStation 4 games on Twitch and not Xbox One games.

As Microsoft put it in their blog post, Twitch sees more than 45-million gamers each month. That’s a lot more eyeballs on PS4 games as we head into the holiday season.
